Science Under Sail Australia has three main delivery area:
Research – We work collaboratively with universities to conduct marine research on the Great Barrier Reef as well as other locations along the Queensland coast. We have previously worked with The University of Queensland, the Queensland University of Technology and the University of Wollongong to undertake research projects that include sea bed mapping, remote sensing of reefs and training underwater robots to identify Crown of Thorns Starfish (COTS).
Consultancy – We have recognised expertise in waterways management and the design of monitoring and reporting programs that quantify ecosystem health. We have previously worked with the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, Australian Institute of Marine Science and consultants (e.g. Aurecon) to deliver projects that support the informed management of Australia’s marine resources.
Education – We work with high school and university students (undergraduate and postgraduate) to provide experience-based learning about marine ecosystems and processes. We offer curriculum-focused school excursions as well as school holiday programs.
